Degree work by B.A. and M.A. students from art and design colleges in the North.
53° North will feature the work of 53 degree students in the North of the UK. Congratulations to those who were selected - all submissions were very strong, revealing a huge range of styles and concepts, and we are very excited to showcase such quality work. The show will feature fine art, photography, ceramics, jewellery, glass, textiles and installation. It gives the buying public a chance to spot the 'next big thing' and to invest in the extraordinary talent of the region.
There will be cash prizes for the top 3 entries. In addition, the Gallery is offering an Artist in Residence opportunity to the most promising exhibitor as part of their continuing professional development. Chair of the judges will be Janet Barnes, Chief Executive of the York Museums Trust, and the awards ceremony will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 17 July at 2pm.
