Seiko Kinoshita is a Japanese artist who uses traditional textile techniques to create contemporary art work and installations. She completed a BA in Formative Art at Kinki University, Japan and worked as a printed textile designer and CAD operator for 4 years. On gaining a Rotary International Scholarship, she came to the UK to study an MA in Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University, after which she moved to Sheffield where she is now based at Yorkshire Artspace Persistence Works.
‘Positive concepts derived from everyday life and nature influence my work. I want my works to present a moment of peace to a viewer who lives in our hectic world and to push the boundaries of textiles being perceived as craft.’
