‘Working with a combination of fine bone china and glass, I seek to celebrate the shared and symbolic qualities of both materials including their clarity, purity and translucency. This directly influences the physical form that the work takes, looking at a balance and contrast of materials, along with an investigation of the functional and the sculptural.

‘I am intrigued by the subject of the vessel as both object and metaphor, and recent work has focused upon an exploration of the box form as an expression for this research. The idea of the box as an interactive object fascinates me and I look to open a dialogue with the viewer by encouraging a tactile relationship with the work. I am also intrigued by the inherent value of the object itself through historical association and the language of exquisitely crafted materials.’
