Fenella Elms
Ceramics, Wiltshire
Since graduating from ceramics training in 2008, Fenella Elms has shown in selected galleries in the UK, as well as completing private and public commissions. Her work recently featured in the Homes and Gardens magazine feature ‘One to Watch’.
‘I am drawn to align small pieces into intricate structures and textures. The work builds with the connection of similar but separate parts and the interaction that comes about through placing in formation. Indiscernibly shifting components build a cooperative body. Aspects of my past career in mental health continue to influence my work with clay: the subconscious approach, a sense of rhythm, attention to detail and difference I don’t seek to put my experiences into the clay, but marvel at how they emerge.’
