Antonia Salmon
Ceramics, Sheffield
Antonia Salmon has worked as a ceramic artist since 1984, developing a strong interest in making ceramic sculptures that have a purity of line and form. The processes of hand burnishing the surfaces and smoke firing the finished pieces imbue the work with subtlety and depth; the works appear timeless, contemplative and poised. ‘My inspiration is drawn from the natural world, traditional hand tools or artefacts. I wish to make work that touches the viewer at a level beyond words, connecting us to quietness within.’
Antonia’s work is represented in public and private collections in Europe, N. America and Japan. She is a fellow of the CPA, a member of The Society of Designer Crafts and the Crafts Council Selected Index.
