Shirley Teed
Painting, Cornwall
Shirley Teed was born in 1933 and studied at the Royal West of England College of Art. She has exhibited widely, including solo shows at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln, York University and the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. Her work is in public collections in the UK and in France.
In 2007 Shirley began a series of Venetian paintings that depict the networks of back waters that constitute the ‘real’ Venice where people live and thrive. ‘Architectural landscapes have always interested me, as I find them so expressive of a people or country. I’m fascinated by that contrast in Venice between the pristine and the dilapidated.’
