Catherine Sutcliffe-Fuller
Printmaking, York
Catherine Sutcliffe-Fuller graduated as a Fine Artist Printmaker in 1994, since when she has been represented by the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and completed several corporate and public commissions, including ones for Defra and the Forestry Commission.
Through her work, Catherine engages with her passion about environmental sustainability, ‘Each piece starts as a spontaneous drawing that I work into a considered design about nature tolerating man. By working with lino and etching metal plates I am combining the two processes to build layers of interest. As the different plates evolve they reveal their own character. Their contrasting effects are used to differentiate between man and nature.’
For Navigation, Catherine has completed a series of 11 prints that navigate from the Lake District back to ‘home’, the Vale of York.
