Virginia Graham
Ceramics, Cardiff
Virginia Graham creates ceramic pieces imbued with a sense of nostalgia through her use of reclaimed patterns and found objects. By taking plaster casts from old junk shop finds and her collection of antique ceramics and kitchenware, and combining these with transfers of vintage patterns, Virginia taps into a collective consciousness of ceramics, evoking a sense of familiarity through an eclectic mix of form and imagery. ‘I prefer to reclaim designs rather than print my own because of their association with ceramic history and their ability to provoke a memory or a hint of recognition.’
