Kochevet Bendavid
Ceramics, London
Kochevet ('Kookie') Bendavid graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2004, although she had established her London studio in 1986. Her sumptuous porcelain dishes are designed as table centrepieces. Very wet porcelain is folded and pleated into sensuous, organic forms. Fused in firing, glazes run into each other, pool in the folds of porcelain and drip from the feet and edges. 'I create exotic, luxurious, sensual, serving dishes for the special occasions in our lives, the times when we rise above our daily grind, leave behind the mundane and pedestrian, and bathe in the glow of beauty, friendship and conviviality.'
Kookie has exhibited widely in the UK, most recently as part of Ceramic Art London 2010.
