‘Form is my inspiration. Soft, simple forms with faint throwing lines and dimples impressed into the freshly thrown clay. I use porcelain for its smoothness, whiteness and translucency. Glazes are tactile satin matt on the outside and fluid transparent on the inside, with colour sometimes hidden inside a form.
‘My work is influenced by mid century Scandinavian and American designers from the ceramics industry, such as Eva Zeisel, and urban studio potters such as Lucie Rie. I am inspired by swelling organic forms with a low centre of gravity, and the tactile surfaces of marble, eggs, shells. I like to make tableware which invites the user to pick up and feel the surface and form. I make pots to be touched and used every day rather than put on a shelf.’
