Textiles, Yorkshire
‘I create thought-provoking pieces of work which explore contemporary concerns, with inspiration often drawn from the natural environment, using colour and texture to stir memories of particular places and experiences. Recent work has developed an innovative technique using thread and wire to create textile vessels that are a response to my consideration of the effects of coastal erosion on the Yorkshire coastline and man’s attempt to contain this erosion. A vessel inherently contains and brings protection. My vessels explore the contradictions between the strength and fragility of these attempts at protection.’
